Five of Swords: Venus in Aquarius

LORD OF DEFEAT

Five of Swords (AI version)

Nathan was riding by the sea and came upon a warrior engaged in a sword-fight against two other men. The warrior fought valiantly, like a knight, but Nathan had never seen him or heard of him before. Suddenly in one quick, expert move the warrior took away the swords of the two other men. Nathan was surprised that the warrior did not kill or capture his two attackers. The fight ended without bloodshed as the two attackers stumbled away.

King of Swords (3D Version)

Impressed, Nathan continued on his journey and came upon the King of Swords. Nathan dismounted and bowed as he approached the King. "I serve thee always, my King, but I have a question."
The King gazed at him. "Yes, my devoted knight. What is your question?"
Nathan responded, "Your Majesty, I just saw a warrior take away the weapons of two men who were attacking him. He did not harm them, and they simply limped away."
"That is not uncommon," the King responded. "Every true knight finds different ways to neutralize evil."
"But why didn't he teach them a lesson?"
Tipping his sword slightly to the right, the King responded, "Sometimes removing a person's ability to harm others is the lesson. As a knight, you must decide when to escalate and when simply to remove the potential for negativity. Some people want to elevate themselves by performing great acts of evil, and they idolize other people who break the rules and get away with it. They want to believe themselves stronger or more violent or richer than others or above all the rules. In other words, they want to feel superior in some way. Some of them even perform acts of evil in secret, alone or with others. This usually stems from terrible trauma, abuse, betrayal, upheaval, abandonment, and loss that they have experienced. As a knight, you need to be able to recognize the depth of evil within other people. Some people might attack you out of desperation, but some might wish to elevate themselves by showing others that they can destroy you--they know that some people admire others who show this tendency for great destruction and lawlessness. As a knight, you need to recognize this tendency and neutralize dark forces appropriately for the highest possible good. Sometimes that means taking weapons away or isolating people from the rest of society until they develop greater understanding and compassion, and sometimes that means working with great spiritual beings such as Angels and Archangels to neutralize the dark forces within yourself and others. If Archangel Raphael has ever healed you, and Archangel Michael has cleansed you with divine holy Fire, and Gabriel has cleansed you with divine holy Water, and Archangel Auriel has blessed you with divine love and harmony, you will know what it means to neutralize dark forces to create balance. If your Holy Guardian Angel has blessed you, you will know what it means to neutralize dark forces to create balance.
In other words, instead of causing bloodshed, you can be a spiritual warrior. I'm sure the holy man in the castle has shown you how to do this."

Nathan replied, "Yes, your Highness, but on the spiritual level I am not yet as skilled as the holy man."
"Being a masterful spiritual warrior requires you to make the most difficult kind of transformation: from selfishness to compassion. Puffing up the self can often lead to unnecessary conflict and bloodshed. Through harmonizing love you learn to neutralize dark forces to create balance in order to avoid harmful conflict.

"Do not judge yourself too harshly. It is those who strive for harmony and beauty and truth and justice who become most keenly aware of times when they might have solved a problem on the spiritual level instead of solving a problem through violence, and it is through the recognition of their own lost opportunities to act with compassion that they eventually become more aware of their higher self and their higher angels. People who are aware that they live in a community that includes not just the entire realm but the rest of humanity and the natural world may not be the strongest or the richest or the most famous or the most handsome or beautiful, but they are usually the ones most likely to neutralize dark forces to create balance instead of resorting to bloody conflict. Remember that people neutralize dark forces to create harmony in their own way, and remember that many of them may not be of the same ethnicity or race. As a knight, it's important to be able to identify people who wish to harm you, but it's also just as important to find spiritual warriors who are skilled in human nature and act from the higher self, people who, whether considered great warriors or not, act with compassion for the highest possible good."
"I will remember thy sage advice, your Highness, so that as a knight I may serve thee effectively and with compassion." Nathan bowed, then mounted his horse and rode into the forest.

The Empress: Venus (3D Version)

The holy man in the castle had shown Nathan how to create a positive living image with the Five of Swords as an example of how to transform a negative situation or energy into a positive one. The holy man had confided that the Five of Swords is not generally considered to be one of the most positive cards in the deck, but with an understanding of the benefits of neutralizing dark energies to create balance, he said, you can make a living image associated with the card's central figure. The way to do this effectively, he said, is to find a living image in the modifying cards associated with the card, in this case The Star (Aquarius) or The Empress (Venus), for The Star represents the spiritual principle of the awakening of the heart, and The Empress represents the marriage of heaven and earth. For this ritual, the holy man chose the figure of the woman in The Star, who represents cleansing and compassion and the awakening of the heart.

The Star: Aquarius (3D Version)

Nathan got ready to create an artificial elemental of The Star with the Tarot Pentagram Spread. First, since Air is an active element, he used the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram while laying down the foundation cards, starting in the lower right corner of the pentagram, moving to the upper left corner and continuing from there. After he placed all of the cards, he tapped each card in the direction of the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram, making sure to tap the one in the position of Fire in the lower right corner to complete the pentagram.

Foundation Cards with The Star and The Empress

Then he placed The Star in the middle of the pentagram, saying, "The Star, Aquarius," and tapped the card.

Pentagram for Spirit

Then Nathan drew the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram and the spirit wheel in brilliant white above The Star on the altar, charging the pentagram and the symbol in the usual way with the Sign of the Enterer.

Invoking Pentagram for Air

Then, since Aquarius is an Air sign, and the Five of Swords represents Venus in Aquarius, Nathan placed The Empress on the Ace of Swords. At that point, he imagined the symbol of Aquarius transforming into the living image of the figure in The Star, and she came alive as a full-length figure. As Nathan visualized the living image, he imagined that sylphs flowed from the Archangel Raphael and filled the living image while at the same time tiny points of winged light flowed from his own aura and filled the living image as well.
Nathan then tapped The Star and stated, "Aquarius, the opening of the heart." Then he tapped The Empress and stated, "Venus, the marriage of heaven and earth." After gazing at the two cards for a moment, he stated, "Help me become a masterful spiritual warrior in my higher self and neutralize dark energies to create harmony and balance whenever possible."
Then he ended by saying, "So mote it be!" Before he finished the ritual, he imagined for a few minutes the star of the higher self shining brightly above his own head. Then he finished with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.
From that point on, Nathan unexpectedly envisioned the bright star of the higher self above his own head, and he knew that he too was becoming a masterful spiritual warrior.

Five of Cups: Mars in Scorpio

LORD OF LOSS IN PLEASURE

Five of Cups (AI Version)

One day, as Nathan was riding through the realm, he found a a knight staring down at three golden cups that had fallen over. The knight was apparently grieving over what he had lost. Then Nathan remembered that the man was no longer considered a knight of the realm: in a fight for truth and justice, the knight had gone against a few corrupt people who dominated the realm behind the scenes, and they had driven him away. For a moment, Nathan felt afraid that, as a knight, he too would find himself in a losing battle against people with no morals who stop at nothing to gain power and status and wealth. Nathan still considered the man a knight but without the official title. As Nathan rode away, he shuddered to think that a man so noble could be treated so badly.

King of Cups (AI Version)

As Nathan rode near the ocean, he came upon the King of Cups. Nathan dismounted from his steed and bowed. "How may I serve thee, my King?"
The King stared at Nathan. "You seem perturbed, my devoted knight."
Nathan responded, "Yes, your Majesty, I just saw a knight who had been driven from the castle by corrupt, power-hungry individuals. The knight at that time was fighting for a noble cause."
"Yes," the King responded. "I believe I know the man."
"He seemed to be grieving over a great loss. I did not know how to comfort him, or whether I should still treat him as a knight even though I believe he still is."
Still balancing his scepter straight up and down, the King nodded his head. "People without moral values sometimes try to banish a valiant knight who is fighting for truth and justice. Scalawags are more concerned about their own ego than about maintaining harmony in the realm, and to protect their own interests, they try to destroy those who fight for justice and truth. On the other hand, some knights are more concerned about the realm than about their own welfare and will even sacrifice their hard-earned title and reputation in order to promote harmony and justice and truth. But when the rogues least expect it, the lightning bolt of Mars strikes those miscreants and knocks away their ego like a false crown from their head.
"As a knight, you must stand out in the thunderstorm and expose your ego to the lightning so that you know the peace and love at the heart of all creation, the great wisdom of the Father, the understanding and compassion of the Mother, the glory and power of the human spirit, the beauty of sacrifice, the victory of love, the splendor of consciousness, and the great strength at the foundation of our world and within yourself. Remember that Mars gives you the courage to fight knaves until they are gone from the castle--even if it takes a lifetime, even if you are no longer considered a knight anymore, but a loss that destroys your intentions and dreams can take a terrible toll on you, especially if you are fighting for what is right. Some people, like our courageous friend, are willing to make that sacrifice. But just as importantly, you must learn to forgive those who have harmed you so that you release all negativity and experience love and compassion. The  lower astral plane contains terrible thoughts and feelings that can influence humanity, and they must be cleansed and forgiven and released so that you and humanity can feel love and compassion. You might need to unlearn everything you have ever learned in order to be a moral human being and open your heart and imagination to the holiness of all energy, the divinity of all life, which includes all human beings. When fighting deceit and injustice, you must go above the intellect, above the mental level to the spiritual level to experience compassion and love and manifest it in this realm."
"I too will strive always to serve thee with honor and compassion." Nathan bowed, then mounted his horse and rode to a secluded part of the forest, where he created a make-shift altar.
The holy man in the castle had shown Nathan how to create a positive living image with The Tower. The holy man had confided that The Tower is considered by many to be one of the worst cards in the deck. The way to overcome this problem, he said, is to find a living image in one of the symbols within the card, in this case the lightning from heaven. For this ritual, the holy man used the lightning from heaven to show that the higher self reveals itself sometimes during the most horrible betrayals and losses in order to cleanse the soul and burn away the negativity that plagues individuals and humanity. The lightning represents the path of Geburah (Severity), the Emanation of Power, to awaken the higher self. So, the holy man said, instead of just eliminating negativity, you can also manifest the impulses of truth and righteous power.
So Nathan first chose to banish the Lord of Loss in Pleasure. He started by placing the Five of Cups in the center of his imaginary pentagram on an altar. Then, to banish the negative energies of the Lord of Loss in Pleasure, he placed the foundation cards down in a banishing pentagram, beginning with the Ace of Pentacles, then laying down "Judgement," then the Ace of Wands, the Ace of Swords, the Ace of Cups. He continued the motion with his finger back to the Ace of Pentacles and tapped the card. Then he imagined releasing all negative feelings into the fires under the surface of the earth. (See the description in the August 26 post of The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.)

The Tower: Mars (AI Version)

Then he performed the first eleven steps of the Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram. (See the description of The Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram in the September 2 post.) Then he got ready to create an artificial elemental of the lightning from heaven with the Tarot Pentagram Spread. He picked up the foundation cards and placed them in a pentagram with the tops facing south on his altar. Since Fire is an active element, he used the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram while laying down the cards, starting in the lower right corner of the pentagram, moving to the upper left corner and continuing from there. After he placed all of the cards, he tapped each card in the direction of the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram, making sure to tap the one in the position of Fire in the lower right corner to complete the pentagram.

Foundation Cards with the Tower

Then he placed The Tower in the middle of the pentagram, saying, "The Tower, Mars," and tapped the card.

Spirit Pentagram

Then he drew the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram and the spirit wheel in brilliant white above The Tower on the altar, charging the pentagram and the symbol in the usual way with the Sign of the Enterer. After that, he drew an Invoking Pentagram for Fire directly over the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram, charging the pentagram and the symbol of Leo in the usual way.

Invoking Pentagram for Fire

At that point, he imagined the symbol of Leo becoming the living image of the lightning in the The Tower. He imagined the lightning moving a few feet south of the altar and coming alive as a powerful force. As he visualized the living image of lightning, he imagined that salamanders, brilliant points of light, flowed from the Archangel Michael and filled the living image while at the same time tiny points of fiery light emanated from his aura and filled the living image as well.
He stated, "I name you Lightning of Mars."
Then he said, "Provide the lightning of the higher self to cleanse negativity and awaken and heal myself and others for the highest possible good."
Then he stated, "Perform this task and then return to the element of Fire, doing no harm." He ended by exclaiming, "So mote it be!" Then he imagined for a few minutes the living image of the lightning of the Tower providing the light and power of the higher self from the deepest part of his psyche.
He unexpectedly felt the light of the higher self often afterwards, and he knew that the higher self was always there, guiding him.

Nathan, as he always did, finished the Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

Nine of Wands: Moon in Sagittarius

THE LORD OF GREAT STRENGTH

Nine of Wands (AI Version)

As Nathan was riding through the realm, a small gang of bandits ambushed him. Nathan was able to fight them off, but he was not wearing his armor at the time and experienced several terrible blows, one of which bloodied his head. He felt dazed but managed to find his way back to the castle, where he met with the King.

The King of Wands (AI Version)

The King looked at Nathan and then seemed to gaze far off into the distance. "I see, my courageous knight, that you are wounded. Where and why did this happen?"
"Your Majesty," Nathan replied. "While traveling through the southern part of the realm, I was attacked by bandits. I was able to fight them off, but they managed to land a few blows. Unfortunately I was outnumbered, so they were able to escape."
"You are brave indeed," the King replied. "I sense that there is more to you than just physical prowess. You are robust in battle, but you also have a strong character. I sense that you have touched the dimensions of Universal Consciousness and as a knight can use the powerful archetypal energies of the Tree of Life in the service of the realm for the highest possible good of our people." The King gazed at Nathan again but seemed to look through him. "Yes, I sense the energies of each Emanation of the Tree of Life alive within you. You know the peace and love at the heart of all creation and have experienced some of the great wisdom of the Father. Yes, and you also know the understanding and compassion of the Mother. You know the magnificence and power of the human spirit. Ah, yes, and I see that you know the meaning of sacrifice and the victory of love and the splendor of the human mind, and all of that knowledge and experience with the energies of the Tree of Life adds up to great inner strength. The holy man here in the castle has taught you well. You have performed a great service. Those lawless bandits won't get far, but now you must rest and let others deal with the problem. You must take time to heal now, and the more you connect with the profound archetypal energies of the Tree of Life, the faster you will heal."
"Yes, your Highness." Nathan bowed and climbed the spiral staircase to his room, where he found a Tarot card that reflected his experience, the Nine of Wands. The holy man in the castle had told Nathan that the figure in the Nine of Wands, who is wounded and dazed, might not seem to be a positive living image, but if you look closer, you will see that it is an example of spiritual strength in the face of suffering and adversity. When dealing with some cards that on the surface appear negative, it is often beneficial to look deeper before going to the Major Arcana Trumps for what seems to be a more positive image, but one Major Arcana card associated with the Nine of Wands, The High Priestess, is a strong influence that can provide powerful archetypal energies associated with The Moon in Sagittarius and The Moon in The Foundation (Yesod). The High Priestess, the holy man said, is deeply connected to all of the Emanations of the Tree of Life and can make the archetypal energies come alive within you more powerfully every time you connect with her.

The High Priestess: The Moon (3D Version)

Nathan decided to create an artificial elemental of the The High Priestess with the Tarot Pentagram Spread and placed the cards down on his altar in the direction of the element of Water: west. In other words, he placed all the cards in the pentagram with the tops facing west on his altar. Since Water is a passive element, he used the Passive Invoking Spirit Pentagram while laying down the cards, starting in the lower left corner of the pentagram, moving to the upper right corner and continuing from there. After he placed all of the cards, he tapped each card in the direction of the Passive Invoking Spirit Pentagram, making sure to tap the one in the position of Earth in the lower right corner to complete the pentagram.

Foundation Cards with The High Priestess

Then he placed the The High Priestess in the middle of the pentagram, saying, "The High Priestess, The Moon," and tapped the card.

Invoking Pentagram for the Element of Water

Then he drew the Passive Invoking Spirit Pentagram and the spirit wheel in the air in brilliant white above The High Priestess on the altar, charging the pentagram and the symbol in the usual way with the Sign of the Enterer. After that, he drew an Invoking Pentagram for Water directly over the Passive Invoking Spirit Pentagram, charging the pentagram and the symbol of Scorpio in the usual way. At that point, he imagined the symbol of Scorpio becoming the living image of the figure in The High Priestess coming alive as a full-length figure. Then he imagined that the appropriate elementals, undines, flowed from the Archangel Gabriel and filled the living image while at the same time tiny gleaming points of Water flowed from his aura and filled the living image as well.
Then he said, "I name you High Priestess, Goddess of The Moon."
Then he said, "From the astral light, provide me with great strength from the energies of the Emanations of the Tree of Life so that I may overcome suffering and conflict and live for the highest possible good."
He ended by saying, "So mote it be!" Then he imagined for a few minutes the living image of The High Priestess providing him with strength from the powerful archetypal energies of the Tree of Life to heal and also overcome suffering and difficult challenges.
Then he ended with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

Nine of Swords: Mars in Gemini

THE LORD OF DESPAIR AND CRUELTY

Nine of Swords (AI Version)

Nathan returned to the castle, and as he was climbing the spiral staircase toward his room, he noticed that a door was wide open, and he realized that it was the door of one of his friends, an old knight. He wanted to step inside and say hello, but when he peaked into the room, he saw his old friend with his hands covering his face. Nine swords hung in darkness over his friend's head, three of which seemed to pierce the top four energy centers of his aura, the crown, the third eye, the throat, and the heart. Nathan could see that his old friend was experiencing deep despair, and the direction of the swords suggested that his old friend was directing that negativity outwards, toward others. Nathan did not want to disturb his old friend, so instead he descended the stairs to ask a question of the Queen.

Queen of Swords (AI Version)

Nathan bowed as he approached the Queen. "I serve thee always, my Queen, but I have a question."
The Queen smiled. "Yes, my devoted knight. What is your question?"
Nathan responded, "Your Majesty, I just saw a knight, an old friend, in his room. His door was open, and he seemed to be experiencing a profound despair."
"That is not uncommon," the Queen responded. "Almost every knight experiences a dark night of the soul at some point."
"But why was his door open?"
Balancing her wand straight up and down, the Queen responded, "I have asked every knight to leave the door open when experiencing a dark night of the soul so that other knights understand what they might experience during the process of spiritual development. As a knight, you might experience terrible moments of darkness and vulnerability. Remember our beloved Christ who died on the cross. Imagine each lash of the whip during His scourging. Imagine each laceration as a moment in your life when you experienced trauma, abuse, betrayal, upheaval, abandonment, or loss. Imagine the crown of thorns on your head, a total abasement of your personality and the negation of the magnificence, harmony, and abundance of your spirit and the human spirit in general. Imagine the nails destroying your hands and feet and the spear entering your side and obliterating your heart, the center of love. If you experience this in your imagination, you will know the profound darkness that so many in the world experience to some degree.
"As a knight, you will find that unbalanced people attempt to suppress or destroy the higher spiritual centers of your being. Some will stop at nothing to make you feel miserable and completely vulnerable. You might feel hurt so badly that you want to turn that cruelty outward toward others, but you do not wish to harm the people you love. Imagine experiencing instead at this dark moment that you are manifesting harmonizing love and compassion for yourself and others. Compassion is the key. True sacrifice stems from compassion. Once we find our way out of darkness, we can touch the dimensions of Universal Consciousness and experience the divinity of all life, the holiness of all energy."
"I will remember thy sage advice, your Highness, so that as a knight I may serve thee effectively, with compassion." Nathan bowed, then climbed the spiral staircase up to his room.

The Lovers: Gemini

The holy man in the castle had shown Nathan how to create a positive living image based on the Nine of Swords as an example of how to transform a negative situation or energy into a positive one. The holy man had confided that the Nine of Swords is considered by many to be one of the worst cards in the deck, and that he would not want to create a living image of the card's central figure. The way to overcome this problem, he said, is to find a living image in one of the modifying cards associated with the Tree of Life, in this case The Tower (Mars) or The Lovers (Gemini). For this ritual, the holy man used the figure of the Archangel Raphael, the central figure of The Lovers, because the sun and Raphael and Adam and Eve in the card represent a return to Eden through the integration of the psyche: the personality, represented by the male and female aspects of the psyche, Adam and Eve; the higher self, represented by Raphael; and the divine core, represented by the sun. So, the holy man said, instead of just invoking The Lovers, you can also banish despair and cruelty, then create a living image of Raphael, the "Healer of God."
So Nathan first chose to banish the Lord of Despair and Cruelty. He started by placing the Nine of Swords in the center of his imaginary pentagram on an altar. Then, to banish the negative energies of the Lord of Despair and Cruelty, he placed the foundation cards down in a banishing pentagram, beginning with the Ace of Pentacles, then laying down "Judgement," then the Ace of Wands, the Ace of Swords, the Ace of Cups and continued the motion with his finger back to the Ace of Pentacles. Then he imagined releasing all negative feelings into the fires under the surface of the earth. (See the description in the August 26 post of The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.)    Then he picked up the Foundation cards and got ready to create an artificial elemental of the Archangel Raphael with the Tarot Pentagram Spread.

Foundation Cards with the Lovers

Then he placed The Lovers in the middle of the pentagram, saying, "The Lovers, Gemini," and tapped the card.

Spirit Pentagram

Then Nathan drew the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram and the spirit wheel in brilliant white above The Lovers on the altar, charging the pentagram and the symbol in the usual way with the Sign of the Enterer.

Invoking Pentagram for Air

After that, he drew an Invoking Pentagram for Air directly over the Active Invoking Spirit Pentagram, charging the pentagram and the symbol of Aquarius in the usual way. At that point, he imagined the symbol of Aquarius becoming the living image of the figure of the Archangel Raphael in The Lovers, and the Archangel came alive as a full-length figure. As Nathan visualized the living image, he imagined that sylphs flowed from the Archangel Raphael and filled the living image while at the same time tiny points of winged light flowed from his aura and filled the living image as well.
Nathan stated, "Great Archangel Raphael, ruler of the element of Air, I humbly ask thee to help me align my personality with my higher self and the divine core of my being so that I may become whole and overcome despair and cruelty and live for the highest possible good," emphasizing one of the main spiritual principles revealed in the card.
Then he ended by saying, "So mote it be!" Before he finished the ritual, he performed the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram and imagined for a few minutes the living image of Raphael providing an awareness of the alignment of his personality with his higher self and the divine core of his being.
From that point on, Nathan unexpectedly felt his personality align with his higher self and his divine spark now and then, and he knew that the great Archangel Raphael was helping him.
