The Wheel of Fortune: Jupiter

THE TRINITY AND THE TREE OF LIFE

Once, long ago, I stood before an ancient oak tree and felt its breath enveloping me. Then I suddenly felt peace emanating from the tree, a peace beyond understanding from the Source of all Creation, and I felt love for the tree and the flowers and grasses surrounding it, and I suddenly wondered, "What if I loved this tree the way a mother loves her child?" This thought at the time seemed strange to me since my father had recently died, and I felt extremely alone in my grief. Then, before I could doubt myself, I had another thought: "What if I could love every human being the way a mother loves her child? Human beings, after all, are just as amazing as trees and flowers and grasses. All the differences in the trees and flowers and grasses are beautiful. Why aren't all the differences in people considered just as amazing and beautiful?" I was experiencing a bliss that seemed to emanate from the heart of all creation. The trees and flowers and grasses seemed to glitter in the last light. "All of the creatures of the earth are emanating the Spirit of God. Why don't people emanate the Spirit of God? What has happened to us?" I wondered as I found my way back in the sunset. All the way, as birds and squirrels seemed to watch me, I felt an ecstasy that made me certain that every creature and every person on earth is a magnificent spiritual being.
Nowadays, more than half of young people believe that humanity is doomed (1). Since that day half a century ago when I was young and felt so full of love for all of creation, I have witnessed the disappearance of so much diversity of the natural world, and I have often wondered how humanity has managed to survive as a species given our proclivity to commit ecocide and genocide and create weapons of mass destruction and ignore the warning signs of our own demise. People continue to harm each other and the planet in the most brutal, horrific ways. I should know better, I suppose, but I sometimes still feel God emanating from people and from trees and flowers and grasses, and through my spiritual practices, I recognize that you are essentially a magnificent spiritual being even if you have tried to destroy my life a thousand times.
I know this might sound naive since humanity is facing even greater brutality because of mass starvation and extinction due to climate disruption and war, but after half a century my question remains: "Why don't people love the trees and flowers and grasses and each other the way a mother loves her child? Why don't people know the harmony, magnificence, and abundance of the human spirit? What has happened to us?"
Because of trauma and abuse and betrayal and abandonment and loss, I have sometimes felt that life is meaningless and absurd, and I have despaired over the future of humanity. Instead of dwelling on all the reasons this state of affairs has come about, I would, however, prefer to look at ways that we can overcome negative beliefs about other people and the future of the world. I don't have any guarantees, but I know that ways exist that can help us move beyond hatred and despair. Remember that I am only trying to help.
One way is to touch the dimensions of Universal Consciousness.
The symbols of the Tree of Life and the Tarot reveal the microcosm and the macrocosm, the dimensions of personal consciousness and Universal Consciousness, but all the spiritual symbols in the world are meaningless if we don't experience the subtle forces that they represent. In order to do so, you have to move gradually through ritual into the spiritual dimensions. People rarely have a life-changing experience from one visit to church or one personal ritual. All spiritual experience is cumulative, and that requires dedication over a long period of time. I have an advantage over many people, I suppose, because I am keenly aware that our economic and political systems are destroying the planet and killing millions of men, women, and children every year. Through my spiritual practices, I am also keenly aware that each one of us is a manifestation of Universal Consciousness. We are, nowadays, experiencing the deepest, darkest ignorance, and it is almost midnight.
I have focused in recent posts on the decan correspondences of the the Tarot Number Cards. Now I am going to focus a little on the Tree of Life Associations. Let's say, for instance, that I want to invoke Jupiter, which is associated with the fourth Emanation on the Tree of Life. You can see below that I can use decan correspondences to create a powerful living image that brings forth into consciousness the archetypal energies.

The Wheel of Fortune (Jupiter) and Decan Correspondences

Two: Lord of Harmonious Change
Decan: Jupiter in 1 - 10 degrees of Capricorn

Nine: Lord of Material Happiness
Decan: Jupiter in 11 - 20 degrees of Pisces

Four: Lord of Rest from Strife
Decan: Jupiter in 21 - 30 degrees of Libra

Six: Lord of Victory
Decan: Jupiter in 11 - 20 degrees of Leo

The archetypal spiritual energies on the Tree of Life are multidimensional. It is sometimes extremely beneficial to focus only on the Tree of Life associations. Let's take a look at the Tree of Life associations corresponding to Jupiter in the Emanation of Mercy (Chesed in Hebrew) and other paths on the Tree of Life.

The Wheel of Fortune (Jupiter) and the Tree of Life Associations

Two of Pentacles: Lord of Harmonious Change
Tree of Life Association: Zodiac in Chokmah (Second Emanation)

Nine of Cups: Lord of Material Happiness
Tree of Life Association: Moon in Yesod (Ninth Emanation)

Four of Swords: Lord of Rest from Strife
Tree of Life Association: Jupiter in Chesed (Fourth Emanation)

Six of Wands: Lord of Victory
Tree of Life Association: Sun in Tiphareth (Sixth Emanation)

On one level, the Tree of Life reveals the unity within diversity throughout cosmic evolution. The dynamic spiritual energies of The Father, associated with Wisdom, the second Emanation, move "down the planes" to become the harmonizing energies of The Son, associated with Beauty, the Christ center, the sixth Emanation associated with the source of all physical life: The Sun. The energies of The Son move down the planes to The Foundation, the ninth Emanation associated with the feminine Holy Spirit and The Moon. From there all the energies of the Tree of Life manifest in The Kingdom, the physical plane, the realm of The Bride. So many Christians misunderstand the Trinity because they don't place the primal, spiritual energies in the context of cosmic evolution, as revealed by the Tree of Life, a map of cosmic evolution that shows the different types of energy within Universal Consciousness that manifest in the physical world. Human beings are "made in God's image" because we each contain the primal archetypal energies of the Tree of Life within us. The Moon is associated with The Foundation, the ninth Emanation on the Tree, and the mythological principle of The Moon is "The Descent of the Divine." In other words, the Holy Ghost "receives" the higher divine energies and gives birth to them in The Kingdom. This reveals symbolically that the energies of the physical plane are divine. All energy is holy as it manifests around us. Due to ignorance, human beings often misuse the divine energies in unbalanced ways that we label as "evil." We can see every day that people cause great harm to the planet and each other as we slowly learn to create balance in the world.
The energies of Jupiter reveal the harmony, magnificence, and abundance of the human spirit. As you can see in the example above, the Trinity is reflected in three of the cards corresponding to the Tree of Life Associations of Jupiter: the Two of Pentacles, associated with the second Emanation of Wisdom and The Father; the Six of Wands, associated with the sixth Emanation of Beauty and The Son; and the Nine of Cups, associated with the The Foundation and the Holy Ghost. The nine golden cups behind the main figure in the Nine of Cups reveal the receptivity of the Holy Spirit. This symbolic association chain reveals that we each, as beings created in God's image, can become co-creators with God to experience a more harmonious, magnificent, and abundant life as we bring energies "down the planes." In other words, like The Magician, we can each create harmony within our world with these divine subtle energies. Of course, we can also choose to cause a horrific lack of balance that makes the angels weep. Not uncoincidentally, the personification of the unbalanced energies of Jupiter is "The Breakers into Pieces" related to the vices of Jupiter: tyranny, bigotry, gluttony, and hypocrisy.

BANISHING

The following, step by step, shows the process of laying down the cards as a way to banish the negative energies in the Eight of Swords, a negative Tarot card associated with Jupiter. In the beginning level, you only need to lay down the cards in a Pentagram Spread as a way to practice for more advanced rituals, such as the Lesser Banishing Rituals of the Pentagram and the Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram.

The Eight of Swords in the Banishing Pentagram

Start by placing the Eight of Swords in the center of the pentagram. Then, to banish the negative energies of the Eight, lay the foundation cards down in a banishing pentagram, beginning with the Ace of Pentacles, then laying down "Judgement," then the Ace of Wands, the Ace of Swords, the Ace of Cups and continue the motion with your finger back to the Ace of Pentacles.

Next, to create a living image or invoke the energies of Jupiter, which includes the energies of expansion, abundance, harmony and spiritual magnificence, first lay down the Wheel of Fortune over the Eight of Swords, then use the Active Spirit Invoking Pentagram to invoke the energy of Jupiter in the Wheel of Fortune. Start by placing the Six of Wands at the lower right point of the star, move to the upper left point and lay down the Four of Swords. Move to the upper right point and lay down the Nine of Cups. Then move down to the lower left point and lay down the Two of Pentacles. Imagine the energies of Jupiter filling your heart and mind until your aura is filled with abundance, harmony and magnificence.

THE LESSER BANISHING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM (LBRP)

Beginning with The Qabalistic Cross

The rituals known as the Qabalistic Cross and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) help you to shift to a spiritual focus. The Qabalistic Cross activates the aura in a balanced manner, linking the Divine with the higher self and preparing the subconscious mind for subtle forces. The LBRP, based on the equal-armed cross--which symbolizes the integrated personality and the harmony of the elements within manifestation--is normally performed immediately after the Qabalistic Cross and helps you to open even more to spiritual dimensions while clearing your ritual space and your mind of unbalanced subtle energies. The LBRP protects you from unexpected astral influences and should be performed without fail after you open yourself spiritually to any subtle energy. Not to do so would be like opening your home to anyone on the street, except that subtle entities can be more powerful than any living human. At the risk of stating the obvious, I should mention that subtle forces usually cannot be perceived by the physical senses and therefore can end up being extremely troublesome. Banishing is a MUST.
Performing these two rituals shows the subconscious mind and the universe that 1) you are opening your subtle senses and your heart for the purpose of living in your higher self, and 2) you are also opening your sphere of influence to subtle forces. Both your soul and the universe will take you seriously, so you should not perform these rituals unless you are ready to expand your concept of self and to invite spiritual energies into your aura. In addition, as you regularly clear your aura of unbalanced energies, you will eventually begin to see what is interfering with your spiritual development, which means that you might very well become motivated to make changes that affect other people. Performing these rituals shows a commitment to spiritual development that cannot be taken lightly.
These rituals should be performed at least once a day if you are pursuing a spiritual path. You do not need any magical tools or regalia to perform the ritual, but you do need a small space and a little uninterrupted time (about ten minutes or so). As far as space considerations are concerned, you should be in a room where you can at least turn and step forward in each of the four cardinal directions, east, south, west, and north, in that order. Many people choose to perform the LBRP twice a day, once in the morning and once the evening, due to the cleansing nature of the ritual.

THE QABALISTIC CROSS

The Qabalistic Cross, which is referenced at the end of the Lord’s Prayer, activates specific spheres of the Tree of Life within the aura and helps you shift to spiritual concerns. You begin by bringing pure spiritual light and energy from the limitless Source through your crown chakra, then down below your feet to Malkuth, “the Kingdom,” then back up to the heart center, over to the right shoulder, associated with Geburah, “The Power,” then across to the left shoulder, associated with Chesed (also known as Gedulah, “The Glory”) and then back to the heart center. If you choose, you can fling your arms upward in love and devotion to the Source of all Creation. After the energy has circulated through the aura, you release it back to spirit as you conclude with “Amen.” As you perform the ritual, vibrate the words out loud (if you feel comfortable doing so), or in your head using what is called “The Great Voice," so that your whole aura seems to vibrate with the sound, the premise being that all matter is the vibration of energy: By vibrating the divine words you are tuning your mind to the highest vibration. The basic ritual is as follows.

STEP ONE: Imagine yourself in the middle of a circle and face east. Visualize a brilliant light from the Source descending slowly, a small fraction of the endless, limitless light which comes to rest on the crown of your head.

STEP TWO: Imagine your head filling with the brilliant light. Point to your crown and vibrate A-TOH (“Thine”). Direct the light with your finger down the middle of your body until you are pointing at the ground, with your hand covering your groin. Visualize the brilliant light going down through your body beyond your feet to the center of the Earth and beyond to eternity while you vibrate Mahl-KOOT (“The Kingdom”).

STEP THREE: Now direct the light with your finger quickly up to your heart center and over to your right shoulder. Visualize this beam of light extending from your heart out to eternity as you vibrate Vih G'Boo--RAH (“The Power”).

STEP FOUR: Direct the light with your finger across your heart center to your left shoulder. Visualize the light extending from your heart out to eternity on your left side while you vibrate Vih G'Doo-LAH (“The Glory”).

STEP FIVE: Bring the light back to your heart center and clasp your hands as if praying. Visualize a brilliant golden glow in your heart. Vibrate Lih-Oh-LAHM (“forever”) Ah- MEN.

Essentially, you are linking the Divine with your higher self, directing the energy to the Earth, Malkuth, then back up to your heart center (associated with Tipareth, “Beauty”), then over to the middle sphere on the right pillar of the Tree of Life known as Geburah, then over to the middle sphere on the left pillar known as Gedulah. You are, in other words, saying as you perform the ritual, “For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen,” while you activate the aspects of your higher self represented by the Tree of Life in your aura.

THE LESSER BANISHING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM (LBRP)

After you finish the ritual of the Qabalistic Cross, feeling the power of the Divine linking with your higher self within your aura, perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) to clear your ritual space and your sphere of sensation of unwanted subtle influences.

STEP ONE: Again imagine yourself in the middle of the circle. If you have room, step a few feet directly to the east; if not, simply face east. Draw a five-pointed star (known as a pentagram) in brilliant blue or white light, beginning with the bottom left point at your left hip, moving to the top point above your head, then down to the lower right point at your right hip, then over to the upper left point just beyond your left shoulder, then over to the upper right point just beyond your right shoulder, then back to the very point where you started.

STEP TWO: Inhale deeply, imagining that the energy of the Divine is entering your body and permeating your aura. As you inhale, raise your hands to the sides of your head next to your ears, with your index fingers pointing forward and the rest of your fingers closed into a fist.

STEP THREE: Step forward with your left foot while at the same time thrusting your hands, with index fingers still pointing forward, into the center of the pentagram. As you do this, exhale the Divine energy back into the cosmos and vibrate Yud-Heh-Vahv-Heh, which stands for the Hebrew letters Yod, Heh, Vau, and final Heh of the “Tetragrammaton” (the letters of the unpronounceable name of God).

STEP FOUR: After you bring your hands back to your sides, bring your left foot back to its original position. Put your left index finger to your lips, giving the sign of silence. Put your left hand down by your side and extend your right arm, pointing with your right forefinger at the center of the pentagram. Move clockwise ninety degrees to the south at the edge of the circle (or simply turn east if you don’t have room), mentally drawing a brilliant white line with your forefinger at the level of the center of the pentagram until you reach due south. Draw a pentagram as described in Step One and repeat Steps Two and Three, this time vibrating Ah-Doh-Nye (“Adonai”).

STEP FIVE: Repeat the steps shown above, but go to the west and vibrate Eh-Heh-YEH (“Eheieh”).

STEP SIX: Repeat the steps shown above, but go to the north and vibrate AH-Glah (“Agla”).

STEP SEVEN: Complete the circle by drawing the white line to the center of the pentagram in the east, imagining that the white circle you have drawn expands into a brilliant white sphere, with the blazing blue pentagrams still in each quarter. Then move back to the center of the circle (if you have not been simply pivoting in the center). You are now in the center of a divine, protective sphere, with the pentagrams in each quarter charged and sealed with the names of God.

STEP EIGHT: Form a cross with your body by holding your arms straight out to the sides. Imagine that your body is a brilliant cross of light. Imagine a towering figure in front of you in a bright yellow robe with violet hems and highlights. The figure holds a long, brilliant sword perfectly balanced straight up and down. As a breeze comes towards you from behind the figure, say, “Before me, Rah-Fay-EL. (You are vibrating the name of the Archangel Raphael--who symbolizes the element of Air.)

STEP NINE: Visualize a towering figure behind you in a bright blue robe with orange hems and highlights. The figure stands on a rock in a stream in front of a waterfall and holds a golden cup. As you feel the moisture in the air, say, “Behind me, Gahb-Ray-EL. (Vibrate the name of the Archangel Gabriel, who symbolizes the element of Water.)

STEP TEN: Visualize a towering figure on your right in a bright red robe with green hems and highlights. The figure stands in fire and holds a caduceus, a wand entwined with serpents symbolizing the life force. As you feel the heat of the fire, say, “On my right, Mee-Chai-EL (Vibrate the name of the Archangel Michael, who symbolizes the element of Fire. The “ch” in “Chai” should be guttural, like “Bach.”)

STEP ELEVEN: Visualize a towering figure on your left dressed in a white robe with black hems. The figure stands in a fertile landscape and holds sheaves of wheat. Say, “On my left, A-Oo-Rye-EL . (Vibrate the name of the Archangel Auriel).

STEP TWELVE: Imagine a brilliant blue or white pentagram outlining your body and say, “For about me flames the pentagram and within me shines the six-rayed star.” Then visualize a hexagram (also known as the Star of David) in your heart center. Repeat the Qabalistic Cross.

If you perform an advanced invocation using the Tarot after that, make sure that you repeat the Qabalistic Cross and the LBRP. (More on that later.)

Please Note: Some practitioners imagine Raphael holding a caduceus wand and Michael holding a flaming sword. I started out trying to envision this, but could only envision Raphael holding a sword like the one representing the Suit of Swords in the Tarot, and Michael holding a caduceus wand. I have since discovered that other practitioners agree with me.

The Path of Aquarius connecting The Moon and Venus

TREE OF LIFE DIVINATIONS: PERSONAL AND TRANSPERSONAL ASSOCIATION CHAINS

Experiences with Universal Consciousness are rarely if ever predictable. During your spiritual practices, you might expect to experience a sense of divine union but instead experience a brilliant white light that penetrates the core of your being, or you might instead be healed of some disease, or you might instead understand the negative systems of belief associated with racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia, or you might instead experience the inspiration to write the opening paragraph of an essay. An experience with the Tarot is also unpredictable, but mainly because the archetypal energies represented by the symbolism affect us on both a personal and a transpersonal level. All dealings with the Tarot are inevitably multidimensional, and examining the relationships of the Tarot and the Tree of Life is essential for a full understanding of the meaning of the cards.
The landscape of the Tarot features a pictorial language of symbols, much like the imagery in a dream. Whenever you are dealing with an array of Tarot cards for any reason, you encounter a symbolic association chain, which is partly transpersonal and partly personal. The transpersonal aspects are classified clearly in astrological and elemental terms, but most of the personal aspects remain classifiable purely in psychological terms because they relate to the particular history and character of the individual. Since we can identify the type of cosmic energy at play, the transpersonal aspect is essentially objective, but the personal remains primarily subjective. A symbol dreamt by one person might have a different meaning in the context of someone else’s dreamscape even though it still retains some of the basic meanings. A bear in a dream, for instance, might be threatening to one person and attractive to another. That is why a divination might stray from the transpersonal classifications to shed light on the personal level: The Tarot reader often intuitively focuses on how the archetypal energies are uniquely affecting the individual.
Dreams often work in symbolic association chains, which only the individual can truly interpret based on his or her own history. Since the Tarot cards are like symbols in a dream, you can create your own association chain of Tarot symbolism for the purposes of ritual, always recognizing the dual nature of the cards: personal and transpersonal. Any layout that you devise will have an objective, transpersonal aspect and meanings that remain uniquely your own. Anyone else reading the spread will inevitably have some of their own personal interpretations and insights about transpersonal symbolism. You must give yourself the freedom to allow uniquely personal meanings while respecting the transpersonal meanings, which include the astrological and elemental correspondences.
For example, my zodiac sign is Aquarius. On the Tree of Life, the Tarot card associated with Aquarius, known as The Star, connects the ninth Emanation associated with the Moon, known as The Foundation (Yesod), with the seventh Emanation associated with Venus, known as Victory (Netzach). Venus has always been a powerful influence in my life, especially in terms of my love for the arts and nature. As you can see in the example above, the ninth and seventh Emanations, associated respectively with the Tarot cards The High Priestess (The Moon) and The Empress (Venus), as well as with the connecting path representing Aquarius (The Star), all brim with feminine energy. The mythological principles of the three paths emphasize the openness and receptivity associated with the divine feminine. The mythological principle associated with The Moon is "The Descent of the Divine," which suggests that the influence of The Moon within the imagination creates an openness to the divine energies of Universal Consciousness. The mythological principle of Aquarius is "The Opening of the Heart," which suggests that the openness to divinity can lead to greater compassion and understanding of all life. The mythological principle of Venus is "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth," which suggests that feminine openness and receptivity leads to an understanding that all energy is holy as it manifests in all dimensions of the cosmos, including the physical world.
Twenty years ago, after I mentally purified my chakras during meditation, I repeatedly experienced a vision of a golden, equal-armed cross, also known as a "solar cross," which in my vision featured an indistinct angel at each end. This vision eventually made me aware of two powerful rituals that include the Archangels of the Elements: the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) and the Supreme Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram (SIRP). Since then, I have practiced both rituals at least once a day (often more than once). So I suppose that it is only natural that I occasionally begin a Tree of Life divination featuring a solar cross with the Archangels represented by Tarot cards: Raphael in The Lovers, representing Air; Michael in Temperance, representing Fire; Gabriel in Judgement, representing Water; and Auriel in The World, representing Earth.
A quick note: Gabriel, I have discovered, is associated with different ways that energy manifests within the dimensions of Universal Consciousness. Gabriel is positioned in the LBRP and the SIRP in the quadrant of the element of Water, which is appropriate since Gabriel is traditionally associated with Water and the Moon. However, the Tarot card Judgement, which features the Archangel Gabriel, represents the element of Fire, as well as the mythological principle of "Rebirth through Fire." In the Tarot card Judgement, the ghost-like figures of the dead are rising from the astral waters to experience the purification of Aether, spiritual Fire, which is different from the element of Fire represented by the Ace of Wands. Judgement reveals spiritual fire, Fire on a higher arc associated with spiritual purification of the astral body.

The Solar Cross with Venus as the Central Force

Recognizing the influence of Venus as my life has unfolded, I positioned The Empress in the center of the solar cross and created a living image of her, and then I performed a divination using the Tree of Life as my multidimensional symbolic map. I asked the Angel of the Tarot to reveal the influence of Venus in my life, and then, after thoroughly shuffling the deck, I dealt out ten cards, as follows:

The Tree of Life Spread Associated with Venus

1) The Emperor: Aries

2) The King of Swords: the Element of Air

3) Four of Wands: Lord of Perfected Work
Decan: Venus in Aries
Tree of Life Association: Jupiter in Chesed (Fourth Emanation)

4) Nine of Pentacles: Lord of Material Gain
Decan: Venus in Virgo
Tree of Life Association: The Moon in Yesod (Ninth Emanation)

5) Ten of Swords: Lord of Ruin
Decan: The Sun in Gemini
Tree of Life Association: The Four Elements in Malkuth (Tenth Emanation)

6) Eight of Pentacles: Lord of Prudence
Decan: The Sun in Virgo
Tree of Life Association: Mercury in Hod (Eighth Emanation)

7) The Wheel of Fortune: Jupiter

8) The Fool: The Element of Air

9) The Hanged Man: The Element of Water

10) Justice: Libra

The first card I dealt, The Emperor, who represents Aries, is the male counterpart of The Empress, who represents Venus. The decan of the Four of Wands, Lord of Perfected Work, is "Venus in Aries." The Tree of Life Association of the Four of Wands is Jupiter, which is represented by the seventh card in the spread: The Wheel of Fortune. With these four cards, I can build an elemental triangle representing the Four of Wands, which reveals that Venus is a powerful inspiration behind my life's work as well as my attempts to perfect it. (See below.)

Elemental Triangle for the Four of Wands

Due, I believe, to my unconscious need to provide sacred reciprocity, I have devoted much of my personal life to the protection of the natural world, often at great personal cost. This is represented by two cards that suggest self-sacrifice: The Hanged Man and the Ten of Swords. Unfortunately, the "feminine" energies associated with Venus, which I have manifested in my music, writing, artwork and political activism, tend to threaten people, especially men. For instance, when I was a junior in high school, I took a poetry-writing class. A huge jock, who was taking the same poetry-writing class, also happened to be in my PE class. One day during PE we were playing water polo, and I and two other guys were struggling to pull the ball away from the jock. He punched me hard in the face and claimed that I was grabbing him between the legs. (He called me a "faggot" and actually used the word beginning with the letter "b" in reference to his crotch.) The PE teachers did absolutely nothing about his savage assault or his obscene lie. This experience, which I'm pretty sure occurred because in class I was enthusiastic about poetry, happened a week or so after my father died of a heart attack, which made it more difficult for me from that point on to survive the rest of high school. Many others have attempted to discourage or undermine me because of my art, writing, music and political activism, often the people closest to me. Based on appearances, I am an average, heterosexual male, but in this society, any male who actively manifests the feminine energies of The Moon, Aquarius, and Venus, which includes the mythological principles of "The Descent of the Divine" and "The Opening of the Heart" and "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth," is often viewed as unacceptably effeminate, a menacing outlier--to a surprising number of people. Unfortunately I have gotten to the point that I am afraid to reveal those aspects of myself to others.

Cards representing Sacrifice

In a capitalistic, patriarchal society, men are supposed to be strong and competitive and dominating and pragmatic, not open and creative and understanding and compassionate, which is unfortunate because the path of Venus, the seventh Emanation of Victory, can lead to the Christ-center, the Emanation of Beauty, which features spiritual experiences known as "The Vision of Harmony" and "The Mysteries of Sacrifice." You might remember that the powerful feminine energies of The Empress are paired with the dynamic masculine energies of The Emperor, and both of the connecting paths associated with these two cards literally and figuratively lead to "Wisdom" ("Chokmah" in Hebrew) on the Tree of Life. On the physical plane, each of us is dual in nature, both feminine and masculine. If the feminine or masculine side of a person is nipped in the bud, the other side tends to wither away, leaving the person without Glory or Power or Beauty on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
On the Tree of Life, the planets each represent an Emanation and a connecting path. To that point, it is interesting to note that The Sun symbolically represents both the sixth Emanation, the Christ-center known as Beauty, and a path that connects the ninth Emanation of The Moon with the eighth Emanation of Mercury. The mythological principle associated with The Sun is "The Awakening of the Mind," which for Mercury, who represents the eighth Emanation, suggests the awakening of reason. For the sixth Emanation, the mythological principle might more precisely be stated as the awakening of divinity within the mind, for the God name of the Emanation of The Sun, the mystical state where all ten Emanations are united as one, is YHVH Eloah Va Daath, which can be interpreted as "the awakening of the knowledge of God and Goddess in the mind."

The Ten of Swords and the Eight of Pentacles on the Tree

Two cards that I dealt myself bear this out. The decan of the Ten of Swords is The Sun in Gemini. The Sun, as I mentioned, on the Tree of life is the state of the awakened higher self, which knows the harmony of the fields upon fields of divine energy within the cosmos and understands the need for personal sacrifice to neutralize unbalanced forces and bring them into harmony. The figure in the Ten of Swords has experienced both, which is why his fingers are curled into a sign of blessing--even after ten swords have been thrust into his back. The decan of the Eight of Pentacles is The Sun in Virgo. The artisan is creating pentacles, which represent the harmony of the elements and the triplicities of the zodiac and the ruling planets. Work is almost always a kind of sacrifice. The figure in the Eight of Pentacles is, in other words, through his creative acts, which involve sacrifice, helping to establish and maintain harmony for himself and his community.

Eight and Nine of Pentacles (both associated with Virgo)

Both the Eight and Nine of Pentacles are associated with Virgo. The decan for the Nine of Pentacles is Venus in Virgo, and the Tree of Life Association is The Moon in Yesod (The Foundation), which suggests to me that the creative use of the imagination is a feminine power that can create and maintain a world of beauty instead of the kind of horrors that we witness on a daily basis due to the extremes of masculinity and patriarchy.

Cards associated with the Element of Air (in my Spread)

Four cards that I dealt myself are associated with the element of Air, which suggests both "breath" and "spirit." The Fool, which symbolically represents the element of Air on the Tree of Life, evokes creative freedom, adventurousness, temerity, resilience, flexibility, courage--the ability both to go with the flow and to let go--but suggests that others might view actions based on these characteristics as foolishness or divine madness. The Ten of Swords, in this context, suggests the divine madness of sacrifice for a higher good. The King of Swords transforms unbalanced energies into golden butterflies that seem to fly out of his crown. His sword is tilted a bit to the right to suggest that when choosing between two or more different options, the King chooses the highest good, in other words, the "right-hand path." The final card I dealt myself was "Justice." Her eyes are wide open. She is not blindfolded--she can see everything. Her sword is held straight up and down to suggest the absolute balance of "The Justice of Heaven." After this divination, Justice, who reveals absolute balance, will always be associated in my mind with Venus and "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth."

THE CASTLES

During my daily ritual, on my best days, my personality vanishes, and I know that I am not just Jim Robbins: Universal Consciousness is experiencing my local reality, my limited perspective within the dimensions of space and time, through my personal consciousness. When this is happening during my ritual, my self disappears, but I somehow retain a sense that I have a unique consciousness while also feeling a sense of oneness with all creation. I have to confess that this experience of divine union is blissful but slightly disconcerting, one that I experienced in my life only once before, fifteen years ago, as I was hiking along the Kings River. (An experience, however, that I will never forget.) The Tree of Life symbolically reveals all the subtle aspects of Universal Consciousness that individual human consciousness can know, and the Tarot corresponds to the Tree of Life in every conceivable way. Since spiritual experiences have a cumulative impact, I tinker around now and then and create games with the Tarot to enable us to touch the dimensions of Universal Consciousness, games that might at some point lead to this strange but ecstatic sense of divine union for others as well as myself.
The Castles is a game that reveals stages of the spiritual journey. As you wander through the landscape of the Tarot in this game, you meet ten fellow travelers on a quest. They are subtle aspects of Universal Consciousness and a reflection of facets of your personal energy field. Your goal is to guide each of them to the castle that is their home on the Tree of Life. In the process, you are going to have a greater understanding of the corresponding positive subtle energies within yourself. At first you are their guide; through sacred reciprocity, they become your connection to dimensions of Universal Consciousness.

The Castle of the Worlds

The Castle of the Worlds

Long ago, the "Castles" of the Tarot represented cardinal virtues. In the first Castle, "The World" originally stood for the virtue Prudence, which means "knowing, skilled, sagacious, circumspect," and suggests "foreseeing," in terms of providing for the future. Far from suggesting only stodginess, prudence also suggests self-knowledge as well as a broad knowledge of the world in general. A maxim of the mysteries is "know thyself," and the Castle of the Worlds reveals the dimensions of the self, from the individual sphere of sensation on the earth, represented by the center card The World, to the moon, the sun, and the stars. In the middle of the castle, the figure in The World, caught up in a perpetual dance, represents the exultation associated with this self-knowledge as well as a sense of the interconnectedness of all levels of being, represented by the symbols of the four elements in the corners of the card; the four elements, of course, extend outward to the triplicities of the zodiac signs and the planets that rule them.

Castle One on the Tree of Life

Each of the Major Arcana Trumps is associated with a mythological principle. For instance, the "Descent into the Underworld," is associated with The World. In other words, you experience a journey to the underworld to understand the meaning of death and regeneration at all levels of your being. Then you move to Judgement and experience "Rebirth through Fire," in other words, a purification of all levels of the psyche. Once you experience that, you experience the powerful energies of the Moon and "Emergence from Water" into new life, during which the instincts are pulled toward the powerful light of the Sun reflected on the Moon. Then you experience the "Awakening of the Mind" from the light of the Sun, in other words, the knowledge of Universal Consciousness within the individual mind. Then you have the powerful mythological experience of the "Awakening of the Heart" associated with The Star. These five mythological principles, which often occur in this order, are commonly experienced at the beginning of a spiritual journey.

The Castle of Temperance

The Castle of Temperance

The meaning of the second castle is perhaps more difficult to penetrate. In the center of the castle is the figure of Archangel Michael, who stands for Temperance, which represents the sustaining of harmony. Temperance, of course, means moderation, the avoidance of extremes, as well as self-restraint and self-control, but also on the spiritual level suggests the balance of energies within the self to create harmony within the sphere of one's existence, as well as, in a more occult sense, the ability to neutralize unbalanced forces to create and maintain harmony. On a spiritual level, the Archangel Michael symbolizes not only the need to balance the various physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energies, but the higher awareness of the interconnectedness of all things and therefore the need to maintain harmony within the self and its sphere of influence. The other cards within the castle walls that surround Temperance on one level suggest the obstacles to achieving this higher state of awareness. These obstacles, when combined, are commonly known as "the veil" between the lower personality and the higher self. The knowledge of total transformation and the resulting apathy or nihilism, represented by Death; the fear of sudden, unexpected upheaval, represented by The Tower; the fear of evil, represented by The Devil; and the fear of rejection or vilification for being different, represented by the Hanged Man, all present barriers to spiritual development.

Castle Two on the Tree of Life

However, on a symbolic level, each card also hints at a way through the veil. The Hebrew letter "Ayin," for instance, associated with the Tarot card The Devil, suggests a different kind of sight, the inner sight of the third eye, the sixth sense of intuition, which sees beyond appearances. The Devil in the card is a sphinx who holds up its four fingers in blessing, suggesting that ultimately nothing is hidden, and that the density and darkness of the material realm can be penetrated. The man and woman in bondage can easily escape their chains if they choose to. The figure of the Devil suggests the Roman God Pan and the more ancient Egyptian God Min, both of whom represent the potent, dynamic life-forces within all of the manifestations of physical existence, as well as the knowledge that these life-forces thrill through all levels of being. (You can become something akin to a shaman as you feel the sentience of all life.) The mythological principle associated with The Devil is therefore "The Meeting with the Powers of Life." This is the dynamic power that strikes The Tower, tearing down and burning away whatever is false in the relationship between the self and the powers of the life-forces. The mythological principle associated with The Tower is "The War at the World's End," which suggests an apocalypse, a cataclysmic battle that ends all of existence. But apocalypse means revelation, which can be an understanding that totally changes your relationship to Universal Consciousness and creation. This is the power of complete regeneration and transformation, causing the death of the lower personality so the higher self can manifest, the mythological principle being "The Meeting with the Powers of Death." This is the power that enables the spiritual person to stand alone, if necessary, sacrificing the lower personality for greater enlightenment, the mythological principle associated with The Hanged Man being "Self-sacrifice." This is also the power to create and maintain harmony and balance within the self and the world, the power represented by the cardinal virtue Temperance.

The Castle of Balance

The Castle of Balance

The cards of this castle all suggest internal balance, which generally manifests as harmony in the external world. The castle cards traditionally symbolize conditions of human life: fortune (Wheel of Fortune), victory (The Chariot), love (The Lovers), justice (Justice) and time (The Hermit). The Wheel of Fortune presents a circle in the center, suggesting the inevitable cycles of fortune within the material plane. On a deeper level, the symbols on the Wheel reveal the alchemical process of dissolution and regeneration. The symbols of the snake, the God Anubis, and the sphinx also evoke the process of death and rebirth. The snake is associated with regeneration and the Egyptian God Set, who murdered Osiris; the serpent was believed to be the first offspring of primeval earth. Anubis is the God of the Dead who guides souls through the spirit world; and the Sphinx is associated with Horus, the symbol of the higher self manifested within the material plane, a God conceived by Isis after Osiris was resurrected. Associated also with Jupiter, The Wheel of Fortune and the golden symbols of the four elements reveal the incorruptibility of the spirit and the spiritual harmony, abundance, and magnificence of the human soul. The mythological principle of Justice is "The Justice of Heaven," which suggest not only the consequences of karma but also the awareness of heaven within the "balanced" higher self. The Chariot shows a figure on a quest balanced between pleasure and pain, light and dark, with a star of higher awareness on his (or her) forehead.

Castle Three on the Tree of Life

The mythological principle of The Chariot is "The Once and Future King," which suggests the return of a king, such as Arthur, or a savior figure, to reestablish balance. The Lovers reveals two figures in "paradise regained," who have an awareness of the balance of the subtle aspects of the self: the sun representing the divine spark, the Archangel representing the evolutionary personality, also known as the soul or higher self, and the male and female figures representing the duality of the lower personality within manifestation. The mythological principle of The Lovers is "Love between the Human and the Divine," which occurs when all aspects of the psyche are integrated and balanced and awake. The Hermit, who in an earlier version of the card represents time, carries a lantern that contains a six-pointed star, a hexagram, which symbolizes the balance of the elements and the harmony of the cosmic energies of the planets, with Saturn at the top point, followed Jupiter, Mars, The Sun, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon, an order mirrored by the position of the planets in the spheres on the Tree of Life. The twelve zodiac signs can also be positioned on the inner and outer points of the hexagram. In other words, the energies of the Tree of Life are brought into balance on the Star of David. The Hermit reveals the mythological principle of "The Wilderness Journey," during which inner struggles and battles are brought into harmony and balance.

The Castle of Strength

The Castle of Strength

The Major Arcana cards reveal archetypal energies within the individual that correspond to cosmic energies. In other words, the Tree of Life reveals both the microcosm--the individual life--and the macrocosm--cosmic Universal Consciousness. A basic tenet revealed by the Tree is that each individual contains the energies of the cosmos the way a drop contains the properties of the ocean, and each individual has access, for a more abundant life, to cosmic powers personified throughout history as Gods, Archangels, zodiac signs, planets, and so on. These powers exist within polarities, of male and female, internal and external, spiritual and physical, and the castle wall cards of the fourth castle reveal different poles of power. This is suggested by the central card Strength, who represents "The Meeting of the Other Self," in other words, the understanding of how to deal harmoniously with the diversity of energies within the psyche and in the world.

Castle Four on the Tree of Life

The Empress, associated with Venus, symbolizes love and abundance manifesting in the material realm; the mythological principle of The Empress is "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth," which suggests the inner knowledge that all energy is divine. The Emperor, "The Monarch of the Golden Age," associated with Aries, symbolizes internal and external power and dominion within the flux of an ever-changing world. The High Priestess, who represents "The Descent of the Divine," is in touch with all dimensions of Universal Consciousness; the divine communicates its messages to her and through her. The Hierophant is the male counterpart of the High Priestess; connected to the Emanation of Wisdom (Chokmah in Hebrew), The Hierophant is "The Keeper of Wisdom" that resonates within the individual and throughout the cosmos. These figures reveal archetypal energies in the individual that correspond to the cosmos, and vice versa. This strength is achieved when the individual understands the interconnection between all things, the internal and the external, the individual and the cosmos, and it is this power that is revealed in the fourth Castle.
The fifth Castle contains only The Magician and The Fool, cards associated with side paths to the top Emanation, Kether, the Crown of Creation, the sphere closest in manifestation to the unknown Source. The cards have deep meanings but on one level can be viewed as the principle of creative organization, represented by The Magician, and the principle of creative freedom, represented by The Fool. Since the Castles are one already established way of organizing the Major Arcana cards, we are going to use a similar Tarot Castle structure in the game Castles. The game, which is also a divination, is actually like playing four-dimensional chess if you treat each "castle" as a dimension of the soul. In other words, each Number Card has two decan correspondences and one Tree of Life Association, which means that each card in your spread can be positioned in three different places on the Tree of Life.

Playing the Game

First, you will be playing this game only with Number Cards. Therefore, remove all of the Number Cards, Two through Ten, from the deck. In other words, you will not be using the Aces or the Court Cards. Set aside the Major Arcana Trumps for later reference.
Thoroughly shuffle the thirty-six Number Cards, Two through Ten (and I mean thoroughly).
Next, deal ten cards face up from your deck of thirty-six Number Cards.
Next, find the decan correspondence of each Number Card. (See below.) Then, find the Major Arcana Trump associated with each of the ten Number Cards in the spread that you dealt yourself. If you want, place the Major Arcana Trumps with the corresponding Number Card for reference.

Positions of Trump Cards on the Tree of Life

Next, find the position of each Trump on the Tree of Life.
Since this game is also a divination, you can now determine which archetypal energies and mythological principles are affecting your life at this point.
This is where it gets tricky: each Number Card is associated with three different positions on the Tree of Life, which reveals both the multi-dimensionality of each card as well as the multi-dimensionality of the soul.
When I played this game recently, I dealt myself three of the worst cards in the deck: The Ten of Cups, the Five of Pentacles, and the Five of Cups, as well as four of the best cards in the deck: The Four of Wands, the Six of Wands, the Two of Cups, and the Nine of Pentacles. I also dealt myself three cards that are kind of in-between: the Four of Swords, the Seven of Swords, and the Seven of Pentacles. When I examined the cards from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, I came away with a much deeper meaning than I at first expected.

EXAMPLE OF A PERSONAL CASTLE GAME

Positions of the Seven of Swords on the Tree of Life

I am going to start with the Seven of Swords, the first card I dealt myself. My first thought was, "This card is showing that I am being silly, or perhaps even that I am exhibiting the kind of foolishness associated with unnecessarily risking own my life. I wish I hadn't dealt myself this card!" But then I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, in other words, from the perspective of my soul, and I gained a much greater perspective, not only about my blog, but about my creativity and my political and social activism and my spirituality in general.
In the above example, you can see that the Seven of Swords is associated with the paths of the Moon, Aquarius and Venus in Victory (Netzach). The path of the Moon leads to divine union with the Source. The mythological principle is "The Descent of the Divine," the experience of the "nonlocal reality" of the dimensions of Universal Consciousness, an experience that is not lunacy but "divine madness" (at least to those who cannot rise above the physical world.) The mythological principle of Aquarius is "The Opening of the Heart," compassion for all life that stems from the higher self's awareness of the divinity of all energy. The mythological principle of Venus is "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth"--suggesting again that all energy is holy, a feeling that I have experienced in varying degrees ever since I began my spiritual journey, no matter what challenges I have faced.

The Ten of Swords on the Tree of Life

The next card I dealt myself was the Ten of Swords. My first response was, "Oh, hell, this really ain't good!" But then again I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, and once again I gained a much greater perspective.
In the above example, you can see that the Ten of Swords is associated with the paths of the Sun, Gemini and The Kingdom (Malkuth, the Tenth Emanation on the Tree of Life). The mythological principle associated with The Sun is "The Awakening of the Mind," the awareness of God manifesting in the mind. The mythological principle of The Lovers (Gemini) is "Love between the Divine and the Human," the awareness of divine love that exists within the human heart, sometimes even in our worst moments, which is suggested by the hand curled in blessing. A figure associated with The Kingdom is the Page of Swords, who gazes over her shoulder as if paranoid about the dangers of the earth plane, a vigalence that is often necessary even as divine love manifests in the heart.

The Five of Cups on the Tree of Life

The next card I dealt myself was the Five of Cups. My first response was, "Oh, boy, here we go again!" But then again I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, and once again I gained a much greater perspective.
In the above example, you can see that the Five of Cups is associated with the paths of Scorpio and Mars (who appears in both the decan correspondence and the Tree of Life association of the card). The mythological principle associated with Death (Scorpio) is "The Meeting of the Powers of Death," which reveals the deep transformations that can occur on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. I can identify with the card because I have experienced much trauma and loss, especially in recent years, and also because I now realize that deep transformation is often necessary in order for one to experience greater spiritual awareness. Mars here is a powerful influence, and of course, Mars does not respect your feelings or attempt to reason with you. Instead, Mars hits you with a bolt of lightning. Mars causes upheaval but burns away negativity and false beliefs that interfere with spiritual development and higher awareness and often provides the clarity that enables you to experience a more productive and satisfying way to live.

The Five of Pentacles on the Tree of Life

The next card I dealt myself was the Five of Pentacles. My first response was, "Oh, crap!" The Five of Pentacles shows a couple in "material trouble," in dire poverty, in other words. They are walking barefooted through the snow in darkness next to a church under a stained-glass window that resembles the top five Emanations of the Tree of Life, which provides a glimmer of light in an otherwise completely grim circumstance. When I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, however, I once again gained a deeper (and more positive) understanding.
In the above example, you can see that the Five of Pentacles is associated with Mercury (The Magician), Taurus (The Hierophant), and Mars (The Tower). The mythological principle associated with The Magician is "The Creation of the World," which each of us echoes within us--each of us creates our own meaning of our own personal, "local" reality," echoing the initial act of creation. The Hierophant is the "Keeper of Wisdom" who listens carefully as he experiences the dimensions of Universal Consciousness. By experiencing the dimensions of Universal Consciousness, even while in horrific conditions, we have the freedom to create positive meanings and and gain spiritual insights that lead to wisdom. Mercury and Taurus on the Tree of Life represent high spiritual frequencies, heavenly energies that sometimes only Mars, by hitting us with a lightning bolt and burning away all negativity, can help us perceive.

The Seven of Pentacles on the Tree of Life

The next card I dealt myself was the Seven of Pentacles. My first response was, "Well, on the surface at least, this one seems better than the last!" But then again I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, and once again I gained a deeper understanding.
In the above example, you can see that the Seven of Pentacles is associated with Saturn (The World), Taurus (The Hierophant), and Venus (The Empress). The mythological principle associated with The World is "Descent into the Underworld," which exposes us to death and rebirth, which we experience also in the recurring cycles of nature. Saturn is the father of the gods who establishes the primal discipline of form and brings forth the cycles of birth and death. On one level, we experience that awesome discipline as we manifest the fruits of our actions. As we already know, the Hierophant is the "Keeper of Wisdom" who listens carefully as he experiences the dimensions of the Universal Consciousness, associated on the Tree of Life with the four elements and the triplicities of the zodiac and the ruling planets. The Empress (Venus) represents the "Marriage of Heaven and Earth," which, on one level, can manifest in our lives through discipline and harmonious action.

The Six of Wands on the Tree of Life

I felt much better about myself when I dealt the Six of Wands, which represents Jupiter in Leo and The Sun in Tiphareth (Beauty). My first thought was, "This is 'The Lord of Victory'--what could be better?" Jupiter is the great benefic. As a God, Jupiter is the powerful up-builder and the creator of harmony and order and abundance. Jupiter is associated with the fourth Emanation on the Tree of Life known as Mercy (Chesed in Hebrew), but it also goes by another name: Glory (Gedulah), which is referenced at the end of the Lord's Prayer (the Power and the "Glory"). On the human level, Jupiter represents the magnificence, harmony, and abundance of the spirit. The mythological principle of Jupiter is "Aspiration" because the heavenly Emanations exist above the Emanation of Mercy. The human mind can only go as high as Mercy--from there the spirit must cross the Abyss into the heavens. The Sun provides the "Awakening of the Mind" that leads to the "Meeting of the Other Self," the mythological principle of Leo, which on one level suggests the meeting of the human mind with the highest level of the soul, where, within an alchemical transformation, the soul experiences golden symbols of the four elements, representing the incorruptibility and magnificence of the spiritual dimension of the psyche.

The Four of Swords on the Tree of Life

Then I dealt myself the Four of Swords. My first thought, due to the three overhanging swords, was, "Uh-oh, look out!" But then I gazed at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, and once again I gained a deeper understanding. The Four of Swords represents Jupiter in Libra and Jupiter in Mercy (Chesed). As you can see in the above illustration, Jupiter is associated with both the fourth Emanation and the connecting path below it. Libra, "The Justice of Heaven," represents balance. Together, Jupiter and Libra represent magnificence, abundance, harmony and balance, a state that can be accessed through deep meditation during "rest from strife."

The Two of Cups on the Tree of Life

The Two of Cups makes me feel happy. My first thought was, "This is a really good sign!" Then I looked at the card from the perspective of the castles and the Tree of Life, and I realized that I was right. As you can see, the card is associated with the paths of the Venus (The Empress) and Cancer (The Chariot), as well as the Zodiac in Wisdom (Chokmah in Hebrew). The card suggests the expansion of consciousness through the most powerful frequency of the life-force: love. The figures of the man and woman are "mating" on all levels of being, and the love that they are experiencing is not just physical, emotional, and mental, but also a kind of cosmic spiritual love (associated with the zodiac), truly a "Marriage of Heaven and Earth."

The Nine of Pentacles on the Tree of Life

Venus is also a powerful force within the Nine of Pentacles. My first thought was, "Oh, yeah, baby, the 'Lord of Material Gain'!" The card represents Venus in Virgo and The Moon in Yesod (The Foundation). The "Marriage of Heaven and Earth is revealed not only through great abundance but also by Virgo, representing the great power of the mind. The mythological principle of Virgo is "The Wilderness Journey," which suggests a time when the soul confronts all illusions within society and the self and leaves them all behind. After this letting go of illusion, the soul can experience "The Descent of the Divine," which is associated with The Moon. Like the hooded falcon, the mind can fly high but must also must have the discipline of Virgo to manifest harmony and abundance. The card suggests, on one level, the kind of beauty that can manifest in a mind and a world without illusion.

The Four of Wands on the Tree of Life

Venus is also a powerful force within the Four of Wands. My first thought was, "This is one of the best cards in the deck!" The Four of Wands," known also as the "Lord of Perfected Work," represents Venus in Aries and Jupiter in Mercy (Chesed). Aries represents a path that connects with the most dynamic masculine energy in the cosmos, the Emanation known as Wisdom (Chokmah). Venus, the most powerful feminine energy in the cosmos, represents the top horizontal path that connects with the Emanation known as Wisdom. Together, the energy is very similar to the energy in the Two of Cups, but with Jupiter (in Chesed) in the mix, you've got a perfect combination of love, magnificence, harmony, and abundance.
